Kim & Ryan

September 28, 2008

Ever since we shot Kim & Ryan’s engagements we couldn’t wait until the wedding. These two are just so much fun to be around. The wedding did not disappoint, it was an absolute blast. Their guests were great and everyone had a great time. The last image in this set was a wedding guest who attempted to do a backflip on the dance floor. It’s an awesome shot. The end result however, didn’t turn out as well. He didn’t plant his landing. :o But, he was ok and only had a scratch, possibly a headache the next morning but he still had a great time and along with all of the other guests. We couldn’t have asked for a more friendly, welcoming group of people to be around. Thanks Kim & Ryan for allowing us to capture your very special day!

Photo of the Month

September 9, 2008

This month’s photo comes from Ashley & Jacob’s wedding. This was an image I got right before everyone headed to the reception. It stuck in my mind and I think the combination of the colors combined with the subtlety of the bride and groom being beyond focus in the background made for a striking, memorable image.

Photo of the Month

August 9, 2008

There were actually quite a few good candidates for photo of the month this month. This one stood out though. Every time I ran across it either in the blog or while going through our image library it would make me laugh. It’s not often I get shots like this where the guest at a wedding is being goofy AND looking at the photographer at the same time. It’s all good!

We’ve done a few LDS weddings and for a non-Mormon photographer it requires a little bit of working outside the box, literally. Since I am not Mormon I can not enter the temple so my shooting actually starts after the ceremony. It’s more like shooting the smaller, intimate weddings just with a larger (and shorter) reception. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of fun and these two were a blast.

When Megan asked if we could shoot her wedding we didn’t hesitate. It was her sister Kelly that really made me start to think about getting back into photography. This happened when at Kelly’s wedding the photographers that she had hired in Atlanta packed up their gear and walked out because they had reached the end of their time limit. I shot the remainder of that wedding for them with the only camera I had on me at the time, a Canon point and shoot. I have Kelly and by proxy her sister Megan to thank for giving me the motivation to do what those photographers couldn’t do, shoot weddings as a human with respect and understanding for the bride, groom, family and friends. It’s more than just a business, it’s a life long relationship. We had a great time and judging by many of the shots of this wedding it looks like everyone had fun.
